Simple Reflections

So, here I am just chilling out.  The front yard and porch is full of folks.  But I just feel tired and want to relax and not think.  Playing Mahjong Titans.

The past few weeks have took a lot of twists and turns.  Blessings and trials coming seemingly hand in hand.  I am so far behind on alerts that I don't even know where to start.  Haven't decided yet if I'm even going to try.

School starts on Monday here.  Hannah is ready for it as far as clothes and supplies go.  I'm not sure about her, herself.  She really hasn't spoken of it much one way or the other.  She's not a baby anymore.  Hardly even a little girl.  I know I'm going to blink twice and then she'll be a young woman.

I look at our financial situation.  And at Pete's unanswered health issues.  The things we always are putting off until things "get better."  And I don't really get depressed.  But I do get very thankful that I have a Father who is preparing a place where one day I shall dwell and be totally contented.  No aches.  No weariness.

Then I look at friends, co-workers and acquaintances and the circumstances many find themselves in with their children, their health issues, aging parents, relationships torn, and even threat of homelessness and I know that I am truly blessed even right in the here and now!  I have two fine, healthy children who are decent, caring and loving and helpful people.  A little spoilt.....but who can blame me.

Where am I going with this?  I don't even know.  I just feel reflective tonight.  Quiet, but not sad.  Relaxed.  Content.

I may start posting in my private journal again, Barefoot & Bra-less.  So, if you were ever a reader you may want to update your alerts, find your link.  If you are a regular reader or friend and don't have it, just email me and I'll get you set up.

Enjoy the J-land 5 celebration!  There are many entries posted to the special journal:  J-land Anniversary Blog.  And we have the chats tomorrow!  Guido has posted the times.

  4.  BARBARA,
YOU HAVE A PEACE OF MIND THAT IS VERY COMMENDABLE. TRUST IN OUR LORD JESUS MAKES THAT POSSIBLE.
HAVING THE ABILITY TO TAKE A BIG BREATH, LET IT OUT AND RELAX EVEN WITH A COMMOTION GOING ON NEARBY. JUST SIT AND MEDITATE, THANKING GOD FOR THE MANY BLESSINGS WE HAVE.
IT IS SAD THAT SOME CANNOT RELAX AND HAVE POSITIVE THOUGHTS, FEELING IT NECESSARY TO SEARCH FOR SYMPATHY BY LETTING OTHERS KNOW OF PROBLEMS AND AILMENTS, SOMETIMES BROUGHT ON BY BAD HABITS AND A LIFESTYLE THAT IS NOT BEST.
MALCONTENTS ARE NOT LIKELY TO ASK ADVICE OF A SINCERE CHRISTIAN THAT SEEMS HAPPY EVEN THOUGH HAVE PROBLEMS OF THEIR OWN.
BEST WE THANK GOD THAT WE CAN GET OUT OF BED AND WALK.       sam

  7. I always say I find it a little ironic when you post....as I am usually in the same spirit with you. I would enjoy a link to your private journal if you wouldn't mind Barbara....

  8. My thought's for Pete's health.   Also that Hannah has a great school year.     There are people with college degree's that are layed off and can only find low wage jobs facing electric shut off's and shortages requiring them to go to food banks for the first time.    The higher gas goes the more people the food banks get.   The charity center on TV gave out small room heaters since they had no funding to help on bills.   The person said the recipient would have to heat one room instead of the entire house, as that was all the help the center could offer.    We do have a great standard of living here in America.    Now we realize that if the entire world had our standard of living it would be unsupportable.    I can predict that with all the brilliant minds at work, solutions can and will be found that will change the course of how humans expend and resourse energy.    It seems to come down to one thing.....energy.     I am sending you an email on my recent activity.     Have a great remaining summer where you live.    mark

  10. Just stopped in to say hello.  I am so far behind in journal reading that I am just hoping around and reading everyone's most recent entries.

After all I have been through this year I know (deep down some place, on the surface I'm still in the pitifull me mode) that I am lucky.  I have a lot to be thankful for.  And mostly I have Jesus.  What in the world would I do without Him to lean on?

Didn't know you had a private journal.  Love the title.

And by the way, I love playing Mahjong on the computer! They say that puzzles and games help keep the mind sharp...that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it! (I just think it's fun to play!)

  13. Well Barbara I missed the Anniversary chat, but I'm sure it was a happy celebration for folks.  Hard to believe school's starting again - my grands make me so proud.  And I think the most important thing possible for any of us is how we affect others - esp if we're raising them lol!  As for your provate J I'd love to be a part, let me know.  xoxo Cathy

  14. I had to delete all the new entry feeds and start over, I was so very far behind.  I figured I'd keep up with new alerts and try to get to each journal on my list to leave a comment on at least one entry.  I hope school went well Hannah last week, and I hope you guys are doing well.  Sometimes it's good to just reflect and relax and it's good to write about it, too.  This was a very peaceful entry.
