Life & Faith in Caneyhead is all about my life, thoughts, ideals, beliefs, opinions, and experiences. Since that is the focus of my blog, each year I choose a theme that will allow me to further explore and expand while staying true to my focus.
I mentioned in a previous post how music stirs up memories for me in more detail than any other catalyst. My 2015 Theme is: Musical Memories.
Just what will that entail? For each day of the Challenge, I have chosen a group, singer, song or genre. I plan to include a picture or album cover to correspond with each day's entry and will either link to Spotify for you to listen in or include the lyrics in the entry.
Yet, that is not the focus. Only the setting. The springboard, if you will. From this I will replay for you my memories that are evoked by this musical experience.
It is my hope, that you will find a connection either in memories the musical prompt brings to mind from your life, or that my memories will trigger memories of your own. Please share those here with me in the comments and we'll stroll down memory lane together.
"Memories, pressed between the pages of my mind.
Memories, sweetened through the ages just like wine."
Written by Billy Strange & Mac Davis
Performed by the King, Elvis Presley
Ooh lovely theme! I like these in the A to Z :) I wonder how many I'll know?!
ReplyDeleteWill be stopping by to say hi once we all get going, best of luck!
Mars
Curling Stones for Lego People
Hopefully you'll know a number of the tunes, but if you don't know one perhaps my memories will evoke some similar ones in you Have a wonderful AtoZ!
DeleteNow this sounds lie a really difficult challenge. (Maybe because I dont know that much about music). Cool theme. I revealed today too :)
ReplyDeleteI know way too much music for someone who has never actually done anything musical, so this is as easy to me as breathing. I can't wait to see some of the themes, and glad we have all week to check them out before the AtoZ starts.
DeleteVery interesting theme, I imagine it took a great deal of thought to come up with ideas for the whole month. Music is such an evocative medium, I look forward to seeing your choices and the memories each evokes.

Natasha, most of the music resides on one playlist or another of mine.. And I suppose it did require some thought, but as I've known for quite a while what my theme would be, I was simply thinking of it each time I played my music and the memories, well they just come. The hardest part was matching them to the alphabet.
DeleteHi, Barbara,
ReplyDeleteI love music, so this should be very interesting.
I'm hoping that either the music or the memories it evokes for me will connect with most everyone and that there will be a lot of interaction and sharing of their own memories.
DeleteHi! Dropping by from the Theme Reveal Fest.
ReplyDeleteThis looks very exciting as I am a fan of music in general. Hoping to learn more about musicals through your posts! Cheers to the challenge month!

Thank you, May! Glad you dropped by Caneyhead.
DeleteBarbara, althought I've heard a lot of Elvis' songs and watched a lot of his movies (yes, even in India!), I hadn't heard this song before - I had to go check it out.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to all the memories you might revive and the new ones you'll make this April!
Me, too, Corinne! Thanks for coming round the world to visit Caneyhead!
DeleteMusic and memory have a powerful connection. I am a very musical person when it comes to attaching songs to events, or even stories. I have a playlist for all the things I write...
ReplyDeleteGreat theme! I'm looking forward to reading it! ;)

Thank you! I believe that many people find this musical connection, sometimes without really realizing it.
DeleteI love listening to music, so I know I'll enjoy your theme. Looking forward to April!
ReplyDeleteWell, Loril, if you play every Spotify link I put up, I promise you'll get a far and wide selection.
DeleteOkay first off... THANK YOU! You know why... Second Elvis' 68 Comeback Special was awesome... great reference that is why you are awesome. Looking forward to the challenge.

There's no earthly way of knowing.
Which direction we are going!
HOLLYWOOD NUTS!
Oh, I was born in 1960 with two half sisters. One was 16 and the other was 18 when I was born. I was taught to love Elvis. All things Elvis. There is nothing like Elvis in that Black Leather! Anyway, hope I few more of my selections will hit your buttons.
DeleteI was born a few months prior to this concert and have the cd, doll and dvd floating around somewhere... hail to the king!
DeleteThat is awesome! I am all about the music.
ReplyDeleteWell, I like a wide variety, so hopefully you'll find some you also really like. But since it is memories we're talking about, most of them are Old School.
DeleteI adore music. And it's true that music and certain songs hold memories for us.
ReplyDeleteSometimes complete with details...sometimes just a feeling.
DeleteMusical memories is a fun theme. Where to begin. So many life events that are attached to a song that was playing at that time.
ReplyDeleteOh, tell me about it! I thought of three more just today that are not on the A-Z schedule. Perhaps if this is a hit, it'll have to be a frequently recurring theme here at Caneyhead, like my I Saw It on Facebook posts.
DeleteSounds like a great theme, Barbara!! Looking forward to reading your musical memories :)
ReplyDeletebetty
I'm having a whole lot of fun with it. Hope it is as much fun for everyone else!
DeleteThat's a very unique theme! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteCheck out my A to Z theme
Thanks Lisa!
DeleteCool theme. Music has a special way of stirring up memories for me. I look forward to reading your posts.
ReplyDeleteGood Melissa! I'm looking forward to seeing if I stir up any memories for others.
DeleteSuper. We'll be treated to music. I love it.
ReplyDeleteGreat! Like I said, I like a wide range, so hopefully some of your favs may be in the mix. Or I may turn you on to something new.
DeleteA trip down musical memory lane...how entertaining and thoughtful. We all can relate to an era of music that stirs memories perhaps long forgotten. Your theme fits very well with mine as I am tripping down memory lane in the 1950's and 1960's through a collection of photos and scrapbooks. I have added you to my AtoZ Blog Roll so I don't miss a single one of your posts.

DeleteIt is amazing how much a part music plays in our lives.
ReplyDeleteIt's almost as if we all have our own sound track playing in the background!
DeleteGreat theme! Music definitely brings back memories and stirs up thoughts. :)
ReplyDeleteWell, I knew it did for me, and I hope it will for others.
DeleteWhat a fun idea for your A-Z theme! Music does bring back so many memories, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteYes, it does!

That's what I'm hoping for. That my readers will either have their own memories my musical selections prompt, or that my memories will invite them to share similar memories.
DeleteGreat theme! Music can stir up so many different emotions.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nick! As a whole my memories I'll be sharing here are of the upbeat/nostagic type. But a couple of them have a little sadness mixed in.
DeleteFellow music lover here. ☺ Excellent idea for a theme and one I considered doing, myself. Looking forward to your posts! Enjoy the challenge.
ReplyDeleteOh, great Debbie! Perhaps you'll have some things to share along the way.

ReplyDeleteOh, I like that you used the word groovy! ;)
