I Saw it on Facebook

Okay, yes, I do talk to myself.  Not all the time all day.  But at different times throughout the day.  I talk to myself when:

I'm trying to figure something out.
I'm doing something and it doesn't go right.
I'm trying to make up my mind about something.
When I see something incredibly moving, stupid or mean and I am by myself...there's no one to comment to.

I don't always answer myself, but sometimes I do.  I'm not ashamed of it.  Sometimes a girl just needs to talk to someone who will listen intently, understand completely, get her warped humor and come up with an answer that truly suits her.  ;)

  1. I talk to myself, too--but now that I have a baby around all the time, I talk to him a lot. He doesn't always talk back, but he is a good listener! ;)

    1. Babies and even a pet gives excellent cover for talking to oneself! And they enjoy the sound of our voice, so it's a win-win!

  2. If I'm in my car and another driver does something dumb, yes, I do complain out loud to myself!

    1. In the car I often start out with a complaint to myself and end up saying a short prayer for God to protect them and not let their stupidity harm anyone else.

  4. Ha! Another cute post. I talk to myself a lot too or my cocker spaniel. He follows me everywhere so I must not say something too badly. Ha

  5. I talk to myself all the time. I try to only do it when I'm alone, but sometimes I find someone else there. Later. Ugh.

  7. Barabra,

You hit the nail in the head with this one. I talk to myself everyday, and sometimes more than once or twice a day.

In my car, I'm usually yelling at the other drivers to get on with it - go the speed limit or move over. I'm always in a hurry going to work and it never fails I'll hit every red light along the way and end up behind a cement truck that I can't pass. Time for some deep breaths.

    Enjoy your posts very much.

    1. I learned a while back to go a good speed that does not exceed the speed limit, and just go with the flow. When you get off the freeway and onto the feeder road, you'll find those that were jockeying for position right there with you. In heavy traffic, safety matters more than speed. ;)

  9. I'm not too bad about talking to myself. My father was the worst. It has more to do with how verbal you are. If you work things out in you head by talking, you are prone to speaking to yourself.

    1. OH, thank you Ann, for explaining my crazy self to me! I like that excuse...ah, I mean that evaluation and I'm sticking to it!

  10. Ha! And I thought talking to myself was a side effect of being alone too much! You've made my day:-) What Ann says makes a lot of sense because I talked all the time when I was around other people. Now it's just me and the girls (dogs), who at least are kind enough to not roll their eyes when I complain about sending late notices or receiving short payments, and they're always agreeable when I mention having a cookie :-)

    1. I'm with you, Diedre! Ann MUST know what she's talking about! ;) Having an animal around a small child is great cover for talking to oneself.

  11. I talk to myself all the time, too. After all, I'm the only one who knows what I am talking about.

Glad to know I'm not the only one with a warped sense of humor!

  12. I talk to myself all the time! Especially when I'm in the grocery store trying to remember what I had on my shopping list or at Lowes looking for something that I can't find.
I think talking to oneself is healthy. At least that's what I tell myself... :)

  15. I have all sorts of conversations with myself. :) I don't think that it is weird. I think it is perfectly normal. It is a good way to get things worked out before you have to go discuss it with other people, kind of like a rough draft for a school paper. :)

    Have a blessed day!

    1. Yes, I've done that one, too! Been really upset about something and walked around and talked it though out loud to myself before speaking to the person who upset me or dealing with the situation. Sometimes it helps me be concise.

  16. There are people out there who don't talk to themselves? How strange ;) I also find talking to the cats helps. I had a software lecturer at university who used to say, if you can't figure it out, explain it to the cactus. I think that's the same principle :).

    1. Sounds like you had wise instruction! Personally, I think everyone does talk to themselves from time to time, but there are people out there that like to "pretend" they never do.

  18. I talk to myself as well, and when I take a walk in nature, I say "hi" to all the creatures I meet. Birds, cats, dogs, squirrels, ducks, whatever. LOL! :)
