*Well, there you go

Mama called this "messing and glomming."

Family Kicked Out of Buffet Restaurant

Looking at the poll, most must agree with Mama.

*Update!*    Judging from a few of the comments,

.....Sorry...I agree with it.  There is no reason for that much wastefulness

.....I'm sorry but I have to agree with the restaurant

I need to clarify myself.  I agree with Mama.  And her phrase, messing and glomming, means to waste or leave in such state as no one else can use it.  And the poll reflects that most of the people who responded to it DO agree with the restaurant.

Kids will be kids, anyone can over-help their plate.  And yes, sometimes at a buffet you are stuck with the burnt edge of the pan and might want to upgrade to a better helping when a new pan comes out.  But normal over-helping wastes only a few bites.  And a parent who knows kids will be kids, will direct them when helping their plate to put only a few bites until the have tried it.  In general, it is always better to go back for seconds than to overfill the first time around.

  4. well... sometimes you want a fresh helping??? too often I get to a buffet and its on the last in the pan portions.. so if I see they have put out a fresh batch ofcourse I am going to leave the old for the new fresher helpings.

But I almost always finish my plate.. and over eat.. you know that guilt mama used to use on you.. some one is starving in China.. oh and the 5 bites rule.

    Much Love,
    Mary

  5. I saw that article.  Sorry...I agree with it.  There is no reason for that much wastefullness.  We all leave a little, but she was just letting her kids go!  Another pet peeve is letting little kids get their own food and eat from the serving bowls. EEEWWWW!

I used to work in the first Salad Bar that came to Evansville.  OK, I know ... I just commented in the older than dirt game! lol Anyhow....the rule my manager had, and he enforced it! was "Eat All You Want, But Eat All You Take!"  It was posted on the Salad Bar, and if he saw someone abusing it he would very nicely reprimand them! Customer or not! Aww..memories. What a fun place that was. We had rules and everyone obeyed them and we just had FUN!

  6. I'm sorry but I have to agree with the restaurant ... I mean there are people all over the world that starve and here are these kids WASTING food ... I mean I know it happens, they are kids, but to repeatedly do it at a buffet! That's crazy! The one lady that spoke on the video is extremely right ... there are these people that do this stuff all the time and then the prices go up because of the amount of food that is beig wasted ... now I'm not saying you should eat EVERY last bite on your plate, because i know there has been a few times where I have left a little on my plate to make room for that next item I just HAD to have, but I don't leave the whole plate filled, I eat 96% of what I take from the bar!
