I just had to do this! I just visited the Wanderer and had my very first encounter with a Beta journal!! Personally, I like it. I think it will be easier to do many things and fun. Don't see what all the hoopla was over.
You click on bgilmore725's screen name and you go to the AOL member page. Same info as before. (The little running man shows by the screen name in the journal, but you cannot tell if she is away or not from there.)
Link to this entry is the same.
I'm posting this using "blog about this entry". Kept me from pulling up my page and doing a bunch of copy and paste.
Then there is "Incoming Links", which showed nothing about this particular entry.....but it is my understanding that it will link you back to articles and information on the web about the subject posted. There are many journal entries I have read that have had me digging and searching for more info.
Last, and I think least "Notify AOL" is at the bottom of each entry, not just at the top of the page. I think this would help the AOL powers that be determine exactly what someone was trying to report, better investigate and be more fair.
Anyway, I am off to the camp. May rain today. But I want a little more time out of doors.
Oh, wow!! So am I a fool or what??!! Now I have Beta too! lol Now is that because I used the blog about link.....or because I posted after a certain time and now AOL has it all set up???
ReplyDeleteDon't know.......don't really care.
I can see that I am away! LOL I set my away message, cause I was just coming on to check email.
I read about these new features in Joe's magic smoke but hadn't noticed it was here or checked it out. Helen
ReplyDeleteThanks for leaving me your link.
ReplyDeleteYour journal is a nice one.
Ill be back, definately.
love,
Meg
I can never figure out what is going on in beta. I downloaded a beta Privacy Wall free firewall. Now I have AOL Security Center, which at first said it had a "firewall coming soon". Now I am told that I have 2 firewalls and need to get rid of McAfee firewall. The problem is they are not listed in "add or remove programs". I visited Wanderer to see what the difference was, and there is a small difference. I have never found out what "link to this entry" does? mark
ReplyDeleteI have never even heard of Beta, wonder whether we will be getting it here in England? I am still having such problems with my blood sugars although I have been told to give it seven to ten days, it is making me so anxious and worried. Not a good start to the New Year but I can only hope and pray it does come down very soon. Weather very cold and gloomy here. God bless.

ReplyDeleteI am not even sure what a beta journal is.

I've never heard of it. But then, I am so computer illiterate it's scary. I know enough to be dangerous, lol.

Congratulations for figuring it all out! I like using the Beta journal option to get that number in the journal link, so you can link someone to any particular blog entry, not just the blog in general. I think it's a pretty cool option too. Everyone can do it. If you missed the explanation, it's at this entry of Joe's, Journal Editor: http://beta.journals.aol.com/journalseditor/magicsmoke/entries/930, and the one following that i believe. Bea
