Weekend Coffee Share

Well, hello!  Come on in. Yes, the coffee is still on, although I have already drank most of it.  I'll make more we we need to.

Forgive the mess.  It's been a hectic week!  Pete had a virus all week. Nothing seemed to help.  He saw his doctor on Thursday and he didn't give him anything to help.  Then, that night he had such awful abdominal pain!  He almost called on ambulance.  I stayed up until 1:30 to make sure he was going to be alright.  He called me a little after noon at work yesterday and said he was going to get a ride to the hospital.  I met him over there as soon as I got everything done that had to be done.  Thankfully, just a virus and he wasn't dehydrated.  (He listened to his wife this time!) They did give him some meds to help him cope.  We got a bag of $1 MickyD burgers on the way home.

I couldn't sleep in this morning like I like to do on Saturday, as Bug needed to go to the public library to do community service for a class at school.  Since she's just fifteen, I had to run her there and come back.  Will get some things done here, make a grocery list and pick her back up when they close at 1pm.  Promised I'd take her shopping.  So will be a long afternoon.

Pete is still resting.  So please don't turn the stereo up. It's getting hot in here to me.  Let's turn the A/C on and get another cup of coffee.  Sorry, I have run out of creamer. But I do have milk.

Do you have any Mother's Day plans?  I don't really have any. Neither of us have a living mother. (Mama, Hazel)  Bubba has to work today and won't be able to come home this weekend.  It's his birthday!  Can you believe he's 26 already!  Seems it was just yesterday I had him standing on my lap, dancing him to "Wooly Bully".

I may make church tomorrow, or I may sleep in it.  As a mother, I feel it is my prerogative.  Rest, perhaps some time in the pool if rain doesn't prevent it, and maybe a visit with my sister is all I have planned.  All I really need, for Mother's Day.

Please feel free to drop by again next Saturday for coffee! Just please don't come too early.  After all, it is usually my day to sleep in.

Weekend Coffee Share is a blog hop brought to you by Part Time Monster.  This is my first time to participate, but I plan to make it a weekly event here at Caneyhead.

  1. Good morning, Barbara! I told you I'd be back, ha ha. I love this idea of the weekend coffee share. It's nice to just check in with the blog-o-sphere! Have a great weekend. Hope hubby is totally over his gunk.

    1. Unfortunately, no. But at least now he has some good meds to deal with it. I read a lot of coffee shares I stumbled upon during the A to Z and liked the idea. It's a good way to share a little of daily stuff with bloggers, get to know one another.

  2. Thanks for the coffee. Mother's day isn't until the 31st in France, but in Germany it is tomorrow. We don't really have anything planned for it, I guess we never really celebrated it.

    1. Oh, well, in a way shouldn't every day be mother's day? ;)

  3. Glad to have you on the link-up this week!

Sorry to hear that your husband has been ill. Being sick is rough, and it's also rough when someone you love is ill and you can't do much to help them. Hope he's feeling better soon and that you both have a more restful week this week!

    1. Thank you!! And no, unfortunately, he's still dealing with it. It must be one very nasty virus! I've never heard of six days of this.

  5. No plans here. My daughter is working and her in-laws are coming to town to spend the day with the boys so I won't even see them. My son is in Japan for work until the end of June and with the time difference, it is very difficult to find a time to actually talk. My youngest lives in California and works at a museum that is open on weekends so she never has the weekend off. We'll see if any of them even realize it is mother's day!

So sorry Pete has been ill. I hope he will be on the mend sooner than later! I hope you get to sleep in tomorrow. Happy Mother's Day!

  6. Hope you do get to sleep in tomorrow, you deserve it. My girls don't live too close so I've already seen both of them and appreciated some little jobs they did for me. John and I will go to church, eat at the hospital cafeteria, and take a nap. We live an exciting life, huh?

    1. Hey, whatever you enjoy! Church, dinner out and rest all sound good to me. Unfortunately Pete is still sick, though not as severely, so I know I won't be treated to any meals out.

  8. Sorry to hear about your hubby; there's some virus going around here; hoping we don't catch it! Mother's Day just doesn't seem as fun these days not having a living mother; I got to see son today but I would love to see my mom one more time this side of eternity, which of course wont' happen, but its nice to know I'll see her again and spend eternity with her :)

    Happy Mother's Day!

    1. To be honest, since I've been without my mom for over 30 years, it never bothers me. I miss her at odd times when things seem to be going crazy and I wish I could ask her take on things. Or occasionally I wish I could crawl up in her lap one more time and hear her sing me a song. I did get to have a long, enjoyable conversation with Bubba this evening when I called to sing him Happy Birthday! And I spent the day with my Hannah Bug! So, it's gonna be a good Mother's Day weekend, even if it is different.

  11. Good morning. No computer yesterday so I'm catching up today. I'm not a coffee drinker, so don't get up - I'll grab a glass of water. Hope your husband is feeling better. That sounded scary. My husband is at his aunt's/deer lease this weekend, so I've been catching up with friends and watching Netflix. Nice to indulge and not have to cook. Big storms rolling through - I won't be mowing. Have a great week and this has been a good visit.

    1. I always enjoy those husbandless weekends! You can do just as you please, when you please! Although I do have a little trouble falling asleep when he's gone. Doesn't our water taste good! Jetted straight out of the ground.

  12. Yes, take a day for just you. If that means skipping church and sleeping in, do it! If church makes you happy, go for it. Moms don't get many opportunities to relax and do things for themselves!

    1. I got a call from my boy who's stuck working. A hug and a kiss from my Baby Ruth. A key chain and help in the kitchen from my Bug. And she's buying me a haircut next Saturday! There's a fresh hog bone simmering in the kitchen that I'm putting fresh mustard greens in. I may still make it to the pool yet. And my Pete is feeling a little better today! Life is good!

  14. Well, here I am way past coffee drinkin' time of the day...maybe next Saturday and I do take any kind of creamer/milk. Mother and Minnie...grandmother...called it their 'Golden Coffee', so I like mine that way, too. This is my 2nd Mother's Day without my Mother...I've thought of her all day.

I enjoyed this newsy Saturday AM post. It really is just like sitting across the kitchen table over coffee. Your a fun gal to visit. Sure hope Pete is feeling better. Nice to hear 15 year olds are doing community service at the library...good girl. I've had two days in a row off from work...thank goodness...so I was able to get my Desk Messes from AtoZ cleared off and did a complete overhaul in my Sewing Studio. Ready to make some more messes and make a couple of Dresses...yay...I need some summer clothes and the summer fabrics this year are pretty fabulous. I'll post some pics....it's been a long time since I've sewn clothes, so it will be a big difference from making quilts....setting in sleeves and such. Okay, gotta run...thanks for the talk.

  19. What a lovely post and linkup; I might join in with this linky sometime. I hope Pete continues to feel stronger throughout the week, and I hope you enjoyed mother's day though my son couldn't make it home. 26 years old ... wow! Mine is only 15 months and I wonder how quickly he's grown ... fancy 26 years down the line. #aNoviceMumCommentLuv
