Trying New Things

Well, we shall see!  Today I seem to be in the mood to try new things.  Why I don't know.  I don't like trouble or problems.  I prefer things to go smooth.

But I'm trying using Photobucket as a host today.  So if you don't see anything, keep coming back as I am sure I'll be editing!  lol

And I am trying a chicken casserole I made up using two recipes and a little of my own imagination.  Anything to get out of frying chicken!

It's been a routine, ordinary weekend for us for the most part.  The guys outside tinkering on one thing after another.  Me wondering in and out.  On and off the computer.  Bug watching cartoons, playing Frisbee or practicing with a basketball.  Folks coming by to visit.

I was thinking about how people seem to read the Bible a whole lot more as they get older.  Then it dawned on me...they are cramming for their final exam!  lol

Here's a little more Arcamax humor:

A friend was in front of me coming out of church today, and the preacher was standing at the door as he always is to shake hands. He grabbed my friend by the hand and pulled him aside.

The Pastor said to him, "You need to join the Army of the Lord!"

My friend replied, "I'm already in the Army of the Lord, Pastor."

Pastor questioned, "How come I don't see you except at Christmas and Easter?"

He whispered back, "I'm in the secret service."

OUCH!  How many of us are in the secret service?  Squirreling away our relationship with God.  Keeping it in the "closet".  Saving it like fine china to get out on special occasions?!

God doesn't want to be fine china. He wants to be Correll Ware.  Everyday, plain, ordinary and dependable.  Able to go from the ice box to the oven.  Microwave to dishwasher.  Serving an elegant meal and then put on the floor for the dogs to lick up the crumbs.

I mean no disrespect to the Lord here.  But do you get my point?

And who are you or I or Pastor John to say what service is enough?  To count and tally days in attendance and percentage of wages given to tithe?  I sencerely believe the Holy Spirit is completely capable of reining in each child of God.  When we try to take on His task we hurt our sisters and brothers feelings.  We wound and scar one another and even give Satan the excuse in their minds he needed to have them break fellowship.

Christ said it best, "get the board out of your eye, then you can see to help your brother with the speck in his."  Yet, we might find once the board is out that the Spirit working in us gave our brother all the help and encouragement he ever needed.

Do you know a fellow Christian that doesn't seem to be headed in the right direction?  Who you see little evidence of a lively walk with Christ in their life?  Then simply be the best servant of God around them that you can be.  Be an example, not a lecture.  Lift them in prayer that their fire & passion might be rekindled.  That God make you sensitive towards them.  More than likely, then when they get to the point they are ready for  a hand they will turn to you through the Spirit's leading.

Now let's go try that casserole.

Loved your entry, Barbara!  The graphics are great - I'm going to start trying my hand at them myself.  I read a tip somewhere today that the journaler started another journal just for testing purposes and that's what I did so I can mess around with gifs and animations.  I am SO not up on these things!  If you have any hints on how to get started, please email me.

  3. Wonderful entry, graphics etc. Don't blame you for doing something else with the chicken instead of frying. I love fried chicken but hate all that grease on the stove. Paula

  5. i think we all get stale, or i guess "comfortable" is a better word. i had gotten so comfortable in moving all my junk from one room to another, lol boxes and boxes of junk. but God put a "bur" under my saddle and for some reason i've been bit by the one bug i hate....the cleaning bug. here it is two weeks later, and i'm only half way through my house, and usually by now i'd be getting discouraged, but when i feel that coming on i go back and look at what i have got accomplished and then i move on. sure my back aches from lugging those heavy bags of trash to the garbage pick up spot, and yeah i've threw away some treasures that you couldn't even tell what was, but along with all that i've started getting my life back in order, priorities straighter, and as the old saying goes, as my enviroment gets decluttered, so has my mind. i guess new thigns aren't so bad, and i think maybe God shakes us up like this every once in a while to say, "HEY, YOUR GETTING TOO SETTLED, AND THIS ISN'T WHERE I WANT YOU TO SETTLE AND PUT DOWN ROOTS." who knows maybe i'm just thinking too deep on a simple subject, lol but its keeping me sane as i go through all of my junk.

    sending blessings and love,

    jess

  6. Hi Barbara!

Getting caught up on your entries.  The doggie one was cute.  I had a Basset Hound named Queenie before the boys were born.  She understood english. I would be sweeping and she's walk up, I'd tell her "You best not step in my dirt." in just a normal tone and she's look at me and make a big circle around my little pile of dirt and go on her merry way. lol

Yes, example is much better than nagging. People seem to respond a lot better. You do good! :)  Love your graphic!

  7. I enjoyed the entry and the quotation on getting the board out of one's eye.    Isn't the purpose of believing in Christ to have him in our heart's with every single action we do everyday.    mark

  10. I LIKE THE SCRIPTURE THAT SAYS, 'GOD IS NO RESPECTER OF PERSONS'.
ANOTHER SCRIPTURE WE SHOULD BEST REMEMBER, (CANNOT REMEMBER THE EXACT WORDS), IT TELLS US THAT GOD KNOWS WHAT WE NEED BEFORE WE PRAY.
I LIKE THE ONE, 'JESUS IS OUR ONLY MEDIATOR'.
ALL CHILDREN SHOULD BE GIVEN A CHOICE TO PRAY DIRECTLY TO GOD,
IN SAFETY AT HOME WITH PARENTS OR IN A GROUP AT CHURCH.      SAM

  11. What a wonderful entry.  I too am opposed to new and different and change.  I like things to go smoothly and I don't like trouble.  Sometimes I think if I just mind my own business and stay focused on the Lord and what he wants from me, I am safe.  The thing is, God always finds a way to use me to minister to others, even if it's just simply by my presence and my personality.
No one has the right to say what others feel or should be doing.  God is the only one who truly knows our hearts and knows what we need.  I've said it before but I will say it again, nothing touches us but the Lord allows.  The clerk at the store, the mailman, that new friend ......... nothing.
I pray that I can be a light to the world and God can use me to his glory.  I'm a very down to earth person.  A little crazy at times, well ok, a lot.  Love simple things and don't care too much about posessions or money.  God, as awesome as he is, he can use even me.  Amen.
