That is a go...That is certainly a dramatic photo. That is a good reminder that there are more important things in life than acquiring material wealth. We are headed into a change in the world's supply of oil and have been consuming like there is no tomorrow. Then there are those in the world that would be happy just to have safe water to drink. I am happy to have a roof over my head and a refrigerator with food. I need to be thankful for what I have. markAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2941371995600376751.post-34018164527993073072006-04-20T14:43:00.000-05:002006-04-20T14:43:00.000-05:00Barbara I feel the same way. The poor photojournalist, Kevin Carter... to take that picture, and have to leave without helping... I wonder what the story was there? Maybe he couldn't help? Something to do with the government in place? No wonder he became so depressed after winning the PUlitzer Prize. How can anyone walk into a scene like that and not feel disgust and not be disturbed. What kept anyone from picking that child up and carrying her to safety? I don't know the story behind it. I tried to find out more, but didn't dig deep enough, I suppose. I regularly send money to a mission in Zimbabwe to help the children orphaned by AIDS. I want to do something, and this is my way of helping. I have regular contact with the mission people through their newsletters and their website. I think everyone is capable of helping at least one other person out, and many are capable of helping two or three people out, a few can help many more, and there are the gifted (like Bono of U2) who can help thousands and thousands. Anyway, thank you for the boot in the pants to remind me that I can do more because people we don't even know are suffering like that little girl in the Sudan did. BTW, thanks for visiting and commenting on my Polyphemus First Flight entry this week! Glad you liked it.
