God said very little about what marriage wasn't, but He had a lot to say about what marriage is. Starting with Adam and Eve. And the role of the husband, the role of the wife all through the Bible. Just like people don't study counterfeit bills, but instead study the real bills to be able to spot a counterfeit. He wasn't trying to antagonize them but mainly to get them thinking about their beliefs. One question that struck in my mind that he asked was "was scriptures can you cite that support marriage between the same sex." Honestly, read the Bible several times through and none came to my mind but I can list a lot of scriptures that don't support that lifestyle. I am sorry you lost followers but they weren't "true" friends. They would have agreed to disagree, I think.

bettybettyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06323135450742337670noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2941371995600376751.post-58898511548927254122015-07-03T09:57:47.159-05:002015-07-03T09:57:47.159-05:00I think for a long time too many parents have give...I think for a long time too many parents have given their children everything except what really matters, grounding in God's word and a faith to hold on to. Too few churches offer real, deep Bible study any more because too few members turn out for it.

I appreciated you coming by and leaving your comment, Elizabeth. Our little church has a revival kicking off this Sunday...right after the 4th of July. It seems very fitting to me, though it was scheduled a year ago! (God knows =) . My prayer is that true revival can start in our little church and spread across this nation, much like the great awakening did.Barbara In Caneyheadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06053601327400989802noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2941371995600376751.post-85137361551631726822015-07-02T18:25:52.676-05:002015-07-02T18:25:52.676-05:00I agree that the ways people handle different view...I agree that the ways people handle different viewpoints have changed a lot, and it seems that many people, especially from my generation (born in 1980s) and below are so intolerable and childish toward what others have to say. I wish we could still live in the time where people are more forgiving and agree to disagree when they have opposing viewpoints.

I like how you shared 2 Chronicles 7:14, that has been my church's theme verse the past few years. It is sad that so many people, including professing Christians are blinded to the truth. This country and its leadership definitely need our prayers!Elizabethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15165210377903518274noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2941371995600376751.post-68950575591158587742015-07-01T06:40:34.935-05:002015-07-01T06:40:34.935-05:00? Satan has people so blinded to the Truth. If anyone would bother to read the whole Bible they'd be able to see it for the love letter that it is. There is so much that could be said for the constitutionality of all of this, and for so much hypocrisy, but I'll save that for another time.
It's interesting you had two people unfollow you for your other post. I've been seeing and hearing from others on social media of Christians getting angry at other Christians for disagreeing with the SCOTUS decision, bringing up the typical, do not judge, and what right do we have...
Yet, we're not judging the people. We're judging our government. They made more bad decisions these past few days than just redefining GOD'S definition of HOLY Matrimony.

But, like so many who unfriended or unfollowed for views on Obama, calling those of us racist because we can't stand to see him destroying our country, we're now homophobe bigots for not being able to stand seeing the Supreme Court doing the same.
Color, gender, identity.... has NOTHING to do with it.
I remember being able to argue or discuss things too without people calling each other haters or stomping off offended. I guess once we removed our foundation, the rest is crumbling upon itself. A house divided can not stand. We're seeing that in real time and it saddens me.Carolynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06778221847847541523noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2941371995600376751.post-86731735214128942482015-06-28T12:50:44.110-05:002015-06-28T12:50:44.110-05:00Thank you Alex. It's one I made in yesterday's post as well, just with other words:
"Now, the United States Supreme Court has ruled in favor of homosexual marriage. Once again trying to enact law without legislation. Violating the constitution of our nation and supplanting states rights and stripping the legislative branch of their endowment."
