It's an old community, but not a township. You could get the little town ten miles South of us, Silsbee, TX. And I do cross a County line on my way to work and back. The people are mostly the same from one place to another in Texas, especially if they are third generation or more Texans. But being from rural East Texas, I do have a stronger Texas accent then many of the people I work around.Barbara In Caneyheadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06053601327400989802noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2941371995600376751.post-23180793196987763182013-05-05T06:43:36.544-05:002013-05-05T06:43:36.544-05:00Wow! I think in some vast parts of America going 30 miles would be nothing at all. I'll have to google Caneyhead.T-Childshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14973808285834438472noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2941371995600376751.post-63630871831479494362013-05-04T17:36:41.938-05:002013-05-04T17:36:41.938-05:00I've always lived in rural settings or small t...I've always lived in rural settings or small towns. Wouldn't trade Caneyhead for anything, even with my 67 mile round trip commute. As a big city boy, I dream of living in a rural setting some day, and yet in the UK, just like many other countries in the world, the rural folk often want to live in cities to find jobs, to have new friends and to see new horizons. We're a funny old lot hey, never satisfied and rarely if ever counting our blessings.T-Childshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14973808285834438472noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2941371995600376751.post-46010142497109541422013-05-03T11:01:36.478-05:002013-05-03T11:01:36.478-05:00Thanks, Jason! Thanks, Jason!Barbara In Caneyheadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06053601327400989802noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2941371995600376751.post-10801629105584990162013-05-03T10:07:42.730-05:002013-05-03T10:07:42.730-05:00I realize I don't know you, but I'm nomina...I realize I don't know you, but I'm nominating you anyway for the Liebster Award. I can honestly say that I have only ran into any real discrimination or pressure to change my obvious roots once. Bottom line, I figured I was three times the person THAT person was. Also, I've just always been so intensely proud of where I come from and what it means to be Texas and rural. As ...Barbie, I have read every one of your entries. As I have said before to my momma your writing is amazing. You are able to cut to the core of who I am, how I was raised, what is meaningful to me. All these things come through so loudly and clearly in the pictures of your words. I laugh, but most often I cry. You remind me who I am inside, where no one else can see and no one over here can understand. You remind me that it is okay to be me, and that I am different... Because I AM different in the most wonderful way.. I'm from deep east Texas!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2941371995600376751.post-22825610963864156612013-04-30T07:52:39.530-05:002013-04-30T07:52:39.530-05:00Awe!
